The Florida Christian Activities Association - Fine Arts Competition
The primary goal of the competition is to honor the Lord Jesus Christ,
and to encourage students to develop their God-given talents
for use in the local church.
Believing in the importance of Christian education, the FCAA seeks to encourage students to achieve spiritual and academic excellence. It is also the goal of the FCAA to promote Christian fellowship among students, their families, and staff members.
The Florida Christian Activities Association was started by Dr. John Kager in the early 1980’s. It was Dr. Kager’s intention that the Association sponsor sporting events, as well as a fine arts competition. Until recently, however, the organization of sports competition was the only function of the FCAA. The desire to include a fine arts competition in the FCAA schedule of activities was furthered by President Dr. David Bedell when a science fair was begun in April 2003. A yearly science fair was held at Landmark Baptist College in Haines City, Florida, through April 2006. It was then decided to move the competition to Fort Myers and expand it to include speech, music, art, spelling, Bible quizzing, and various other academic activities. The year 2007 was the first time an “Academic Fair” or Fine Arts Competition had been sponsored by the FCAA. The competition was moved to Haines City in 2012.
Our judges and staff are devoted to ensuring fair and Christ-honoring competitions. Their goal is to encourage and inspire students to grow in skill and in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus.
The Fine Arts Competition is guided by the leadership of the FCAA President, Dr. David Bedell.
